The OSIR sponsored team will build the state of the art Solar Car from scratch to final. The OSIR will provide all necessary facility and technology to do so.
The Solar Car will be proto-type for testing and developing new technologies for Creator Group, the main sponsor of expenses and technology for this event on behalf of the OSIR.
The Solar Car will be designed by keeping many parameters under view, such as:
- The Solar Car body and chassis will be built by using Carbon Fiber material which is 4 times stiffer and 5 times stronger than steel with just quarter in weight.
- The solar cells for the project have been selected are Gallium arsenide (GaAs), due to their high efficiency and endurance.
- Adjustable seat and steering wheel position.
- Aerodynamic designing will be the key factor to streamline the air resistance and creating down force.
- Power to weight ratio will be increased as much as possible.
- Advance technology will be used for regenerating breaking system, composite material gear trains, suspension system etc.
- Onboard computer system will be used to monitor telemetry data with more than 50 sensors to know friction, vibration, ambient temperature, battery status, decibels, body temperature, angle, tyre pressure etc.
- Special software will be designed to automate control Solar Car’s electric motor, battery charging and consumption, Active Body Control, Electronic Stability Program, Active Cruise Control
- All the data collected by the onboard computer will transmitted in real-time wirelessly in encrypted format to the Escort Vehicle, so that experts can keep tap on all the development of the Solar Car and can also guide Driver for necessary actions.
- Developing special suit for driver to make comfortable in scorching heat of Australian desert during the race which will also monitor driver’s vitals.
