Demonstrations and Milestones
1. Demonstrations and Milestones Overview
The Google Lunar X PRIZE has established Milestones, Demonstrations, and Public Appearances in order to maintain public interest in the Google Lunar X PRIZE from announcement through its winning. To do so, TEAMs are expected to participate in a number of events in order to demonstrate their concepts and readiness levels. Some of these Milestones, Demonstrations, and Public Appearances may be accompanied by small cash payouts provided by XPF or its Sponsors or Partners, meant to reward TEAMs for successful completion of a variety of key tasks.
2. Demonstrations
XPF will identify a small number of public Demonstrations, at which TEAMs will be encouraged to perform a pre-identified task in front of a general audience in exchange for the chance to earn payments from an XPF-provided interim investment incentive pool. A list of these Demonstrations will be provided to the TEAMs no later than July 20, 2009. Such Demonstrations may include but are not limited to:
• Public Debut of full-scale mockup of CRAFT and any secondary vehicle(s).
• Time-delayed Teleoperation
• Course Navigation
• Hot Fire testing of descent engines
• 500 meter roam demonstration
3. Milestones
XPF will identify a small number of important mission Milestones, upon completion and public disclosure of which TEAMs may be eligible for payments from an XPF-provided interim investment incentive pool. A list of these Milestones will be provided to the TEAMs no later than July 20, 2009. Such Milestones may include but are not limited to:
• Receipt of $10,000,000 or equivalent in private investment.
